Browser extension privacy
What Job Application Tracker Capture reads, why it reads it, where it goes, and what it never does.
The short version
It reads the active tab's page URL and visible job-advertisement content, then sends that capture over HTTPS to a short-lived encrypted handoff before opening your authenticated private tracker for review. It never saves an application automatically.
Information handled
A capture may include the page URL, role title, employer, location, employment type, salary, job reference, closing date, and visible job description.
An optional application-portal URL can be entered manually on the review page. The extension does not extract or infer that URL.
The extension also stores the tracker address locally in Chrome so subsequent captures open the same tracker.
Purpose and consent
The popup prominently explains what will be shared before every capture. Pressing Capture this tab and review initiates that specific transfer.
The information is used only to construct the editable review draft requested by the user.
Transfer and storage
The configured HTTPS tracker validates and encrypts the capture, returns a random single-use handoff token, and never places job content in the browser URL. The handoff expires after 10 minutes and is removed when redeemed or during cleanup; the resulting owner-scoped review draft expires after 24 hours if it is not confirmed.

What is not collected
The extension does not monitor background tabs, read cookies or passwords, collect analytics, run advertising trackers, or capture pages without an explicit click.
It does not contact an AI service or sell captured information.
Permissions
activeTab provides temporary access only to the tab where the user clicks the extension. scripting runs the packaged deterministic page reader for that click. storage remembers the configured tracker address and holds the pending capture in browser-session memory only while the handoff tab opens.
Limited use
Information handled by the extension is used only to provide the prominently disclosed job-capture and review feature. It is not transferred for advertising, credit decisions, resale, or unrelated profiling.
The extension's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
